Let’s talk about female egos in professional wrestling.
Confidence is necessary in this business. You SHOULD believe in yourself. You should walk through that curtain believing you belong there.
But there’s a difference between confidence and ego.
Not every woman in the locker room is your competition.
Another woman getting booked doesn’t take anything away from you. Someone else getting a championship, a better spot on the card, more attention, more followers or a bigger reaction doesn’t automatically mean you were disrespected.
Sometimes it’s just their turn to shine.
Women’s wrestling has fought hard enough over the years to be taken seriously without women tearing each other down because somebody else got an opportunity.
And here’s another one:
You don’t have to like everybody.
You don’t have to be best friends. You don’t have to hang out after the show. Hell, you might not even want to talk to each other once you leave the building.
But when you’re working together, be professional.
Help each other have the best match possible. Protect each other. Make each other look good. And when another woman earns something, learn how to say “good for her” without immediately asking why it wasn’t you.
Because eventually you’re going to want somebody else to do the same when your opportunity comes.
There’s room for strong personalities in wrestling.
There’s room for confidence.
There’s room for ambition.
Just don’t let your ego become bigger than the business.
